Kevin Owens .a.k.a Kevin Ray Owens started his musical career at the age of five.  Born on August 16th 1955 to Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Hattie Owens in theAmsterdam Houses inManhattan NYC. He auditioned and won several parts with the Theatre East Children’s Theatrical Touring Company. Kevin attended theHigh School OfPerforming Arts inNew York City where he majored in Drama and Dance.  Many of his classmates went on to become some ofHollywood’s favorites such asChico and The Man, Freddie Prince, and the award-winning actor Keith David.


After graduating from High School, Kevin entered the military where he started a three man vocal group called Something Special: and was picked to tour with the1976/1776 Army Bicentennial Celebration RoadShow as Choreographer, Singer/Performer and Musician for the show.  Upon completing his military service, he started a group called Truly Yours out ofBrooklynNY.  From Truly Yours he joined the well-known male vocal group Revelation on RSO Records and later moved to Handshake Records where they recorded three albums.   In 1983, Kevin learned through his buddy Rick Roberts (who at the time was the Manhattans road manager) that Ray, Goodman & Brown was looking for a replacement for Harry Ray who had left the group to persue a solo career.  Kevin’s stellar audition earned him a spot as a member of Ray, Goodman & Brown even after Harry Ray returned to the group.  For a moment, there were four members in RGB and all was fine—until 1985 when Luther Vandross asked Kevin to join his entourage.  Although Kevin had always dreamed of being a member of RGB, the invitation from Luther had its benefits. Since then, Kevin has been with Luther Vandross and Ray, Goodman and Brown for the last 20 years. 


Over the years, Kevin has gained experience in the industry as a producer, performer and businessperson.  He has performed with some of the industries most popular artists: to include Luther Vandross, Melissa Manchester, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, James Ingram, Regina Belle, Lou Rawls, Patti Labelle, Nona Hendrix and many other notables.  Kevin has also functioned as partner and senior vice president for JBR Records inNew York City: his duties involved the coordination of the artist relations, publishers, writers and producers, parts and components and design and creative departments involved with the manufacturing and production of music media products.  Currently Kevin Owens functions CEO of Ellet Street Entertainment and is currently management consultant to Atlantic Recording Artist Jaheim.  Having spent 23 years in the entertainment industry as a professional business, performer, producer, choreographer and artist he has most certainly been blessed with his gift’s of song, dance and administrative skills and holds in high standards the appreciation of the arts.
